Munckie

Someone wanted to know why we called the LO Munckie and why we spell it this way instead of "Monkey".

My answer is pathetically silly. "The Big Bang Theory". Not the actual scientific theory but the television show. I have a minor obsession with Sheldon. I think he is one of the most entertaining actors in a sitcom since Joey Tribbiani. He takes everything too seriously, works too often and this leads to hilarious conversations with his peers.

One night while watching, Sheldon referred to someone has a Homunculus. He goes on to explain that a Homunculus is "a perfect little person". Well, we took that and shortened it to Munckie - our perfect little person, who we love so much, even though we cannot see them.

Apprecaited Sense of Humor

While I am green in the face, running to the bathroom frequently , and barely eating, Bug always tries to make me feel better.

He brings me saltines, runs to the store for anything I think I may remotely be able to hold down, and has done all the housework for more than a week. While this is all amazing, it is his sense of humor that always makes me feel best.

Today he decided that I am nauseated because the baby has its own "Wii" in utero and therefore is bouncin all around. "Probably playing tennis if I would have to guess." says Bug. Thank you God, for an amazingly sensitive and silly hubby!

Thankful for..

After the weekend we just had, I am happy to say that I am sooo happy that our families get along as well as they do.

I never had a great example of in-laws getting along. As a matter of fact, I had the exact opposite. My mom had an asshat of a brother-in-law (my Dad's brother) and he treats her like crap. My Dad's mom recently told my Dad, in front of my mother, that she always wished she had a daughter. My mom was so hurt by this that it almost made her cry. My mom has been a part of that family for about 35 years. These are just minute examples.

For bug, it was the exact opposite. His Dad's parents and his Mom's parents are great together. They go to each other's family parties and are so chummy when they are all together. They even joke about who arrives first vs. who is late. I love it and I am glad to say that our parents are much closer to option B than option A.

Dinner was at my Mother-in-law's. She is a great cook, so everyone was looking forward to it. My Mom, Dad & sister arrived and it was hugs and kisses all around. It is SO nice to see! Everyone jokes with each other and teases one another. I can't express how happy it made Bug and I to see this.

The only thing that miffed me was that Bug's parents sat at another table in another room with Bug's stepbrother, rather than sitting with my family for dinner. That really got under my skin, as they see them on a semi-daily basis. I did my best to let it go.

Overall, it was a good night.

Weekend with the Familia

This weekend, Bug and I are headed up the coast to see both families. Hopefully, both families will get together for dinner on Saturday. Bug and I always love that.

On the left are Bug's parents, on the right are mine.

We miss them since we moved.

This was taken at our wedding while we were dancing our first dance as a married couple.

Ahh, and look where we are now.

Happy Anniversary!

This week is a week of anniversaries for us.

On the fifteenth, it was two years ago that DH proposed to me.

On the sixteenth, it was one year that we have had our lil puggle - Colby.

On the seventeenth, it was three years since DH asked me to be his girlfriend. (the second time around...eeesh)

Today, the nineteenth, it is our 5 month wedding anniversary.

We had a special little dinner to honor all of our anniversaries. It stinks that Aunt Flow came yesterday, as that would have been a wonderful gift!!

I have given Bug a card and a small gift each month that we have been married. This month, I gave him a card with a pacifier and a bib that says I love my Daddy. He teared up a little and said the quietest and cutest 'thanks' ever. We do not have a little one who needs those things yet, but Bug really appreciated them!

Thankful for..

I am so thankful for my health. Because of the wanna-be mommy inside of me, I have been reading all about these women who have been struggling during birth and some of the women and babies did not make it. This broke my heart.

It make me really think about how lucky I am to have my health, both physically and mentally. It makes me wonder about how mentally ill the soldiers of Ft. Worth had to be to take the lives of others.

I am just so lucky to not have illnesses ::knocks on wood:: and to be happy and healthy, as is the rest of my family!

Colby

On to the next person in my family-Colby. Colby is half beagle, half pug which makes him a puggle. He is my love for sure and will always be my first little one! Colby was born on September 5th, six days short of my birthday. We got him on November 16th, when he was eleven weeks old. He was so tiny!

When we first brought him home he was so scared and timid. Within the next day, he warmed up to me and Bug and we have been inseparable ever since.

He has a personality and a half. He sleeps in between Bug and I, underneath the blankets. He has a "baby" that I used to microwave and put in the crate with him that he still drags around. It is the only toy from puppy-hood that he has yet to destroy. Last Christmas, Colby enjoyed unwrapping every one's gifts. If there is more than one person on the couch, he always has to sit in between them. He walks on us like he is still ten lbs. (He is 30 now!) He knows just how to push his Daddy's buttons - Drags around his 49er's blanket till he notices. He also knows just how to push my buttons - goes in and messes up the bed to sleep under the blankets after I have already made it.

He is the most affectionate dog I have known. He wants to be touched at all times and as we speak is curled up ON my feet. Plus, he gives out the most and best kisses ever.

We love our lil man!

Thankful For..

I decided to write about one thing I am thankful for each day until Thanksgiving. I figure we are so blessed and I have so much to be thankful for. So, in addition to all the baby chatter, I will be listing the things I am thankful for.

I am very thankful for our home.

Before DH and I got married we lived in an apartment in NY that was in his parents basement. It was not a full apartment, (went upstairs for use of the kitchen) but it was ours. We loved living there and miss it often. However, it was definitely time for our own place.

DH has wanted to move south since he was about eleven years old and he is a true country boy at heart. When we were thinking about moving, he suggested looking at homes in NC. I gave in to his whim and figured that was all it was, a whim.

After two hardcore days of looking at houses I FELL IN LOVE! It was a foreclosure being sold by the bank in perfect condition. We put in an offer and it was countered. We countered back and they countered again. We put in a final offer and it was accepted. As they were drawing up the paperwork, someone else offered the bank more money and they took their offer over ours without telling us. We were devastated and began looking for other homes on-line from NY.

A month later, our realtor called us and told us that the deal with the buyer who wanted "our house" fell through. We wound up giving them their asking price to assure we would get the house, and here I sit 5 months later. I love our home. It is the perfect size for our beginning family. 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bath, living room, dining room, the perfect kitchen and a huge backyard that backs up to a horse farm. Perfect for lil Colby.

I do not think we could have been more lucky with the whole house situation. I feel that we are very lucky to have our home and could not imagine us anywhere else!

Claude

Claude is a blue beta that Bug and I bought right before our wedding. He was purchased at pet smart a the week before our wedding. He was an aggressive little bugger, so I named him Claude, after a surly man at Bug's previous job. He lived in a glass vase for the week leading up to our wedding.

On the day of our wedding, he was placed in a hurricane vase. On the bottom of the vase was beautiful sea glass and sea shells. It was a happy little environment for Claude. He made an appearance on our special day as the centerpiece of our Candy Buffet. He is in the back behind the buckets of candy, chillin at the top of the Vase. Too cute!

The night of the wedding, Bug's Mom & Dad took him back to their room and then he went back to NY while we are on our Honeymoon. When we moved to North Carolina, he was put in a tupperware container and sat up front with me for the move. He now sits in our hallway, greeting everyone that comes in and out of our home.

Gotta luv a little guy who costs next to nothing to have and swims to the surface to greet you every morning as you feed him!!

Sundays

Today, DH and I slept in. I made breakfast sandwiches while he went and got the Charlotte Observer and the Mooresville Times. We ate breakfast, read the paper and curled up again to watch the race and football. The same routine we have had every Sunday for as long as I can remember. What is different you ask?

WERE TRYIN' TO HAVE A BAAAAYYYYBBBYYYY!

Hehe, ok. So that was our morning. We are high off of the idea that there is a chance sometime down the road, in the near future, we could be preggers. Our love has seemed to change. We seem more lovey dovey (if that is possible). Our regular demeanor towards each other is lovey enough to make an innocent bystander want to vom. NOW it is even worse..haha. We are more snugly and huggy than ever and I am eating it up. This is just a day after we decided to ttc, imagine what it will be like as we progress. I <3 us.

To continue the day, we will carve pumpkins and eat dinner in the living room in front of the tube. We only do this on Sundays because we are watching football. Our dinners on Sundays usually consist of a smorgasbord of leftovers and sporty food or I will make something super tasty yet easy. Tonight is a combo of the two. We are having left over spaghetti and I am also making loose chop meat & mashed potatoes. Yum!

This is how our Sundays at home will continue to occur. Until the invasion of a little one that is. Then all bets are off!
