I am very thankful for our home.
Before DH and I got married we lived in an apartment in NY that was in his parents basement. It was not a full apartment, (went upstairs for use of the kitchen) but it was ours. We loved living there and miss it often. However, it was definitely time for our own place.
DH has wanted to move south since he was about eleven years old and he is a true country boy at heart. When we were thinking about moving, he suggested looking at homes in NC. I gave in to his whim and figured that was all it was, a whim.
After two hardcore days of looking at houses I FELL IN LOVE! It was a foreclosure being sold by the bank in perfect condition. We put in an offer and it was countered. We countered back and they countered again. We put in a final offer and it was accepted. As they were drawing up the paperwork, someone else offered the bank more money and they took their offer over ours without telling us. We were devastated and began looking for other homes on-line from NY.
A month later, our realtor called us and told us that the deal with the buyer who wanted "our house" fell through. We wound up giving them their asking price to assure we would get the house, and here I sit 5 months later. I love our home. It is the perfect size for our beginning family. 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bath, living room, dining room, the perfect kitchen and a huge backyard that backs up to a horse farm. Perfect for lil Colby.
I do not think we could have been more lucky with the whole house situation. I feel that we are very lucky to have our home and could not imagine us anywhere else!
